
Bettiah, 25 October (NEWS IN BIHAR). 17 houses were burnt to ashes due to a fire that broke out on Saturday afternoon in Khalwa Tola village of Nawalpur in West Champaran district. Property worth lakhs including grains, clothes, utensils, jewellery, a goat and cash were burnt to ashes.
According to the police, suddenly a huge fire was seen in the house of Ambika Chaudhary, resident of Khalwa Tola Graman. Hearing the screams of the people, hundreds of villagers started extinguishing the fire. Within no time, the houses of people like Amarjeet Chaudhary, Umesh Chaudhary, Bablu Chaudhary, Ramakant Chaudhary, Chhotalal Chaudhary, Sumit Chaudhary, Awadhesh Kumar Chaudhary, Manib Chaudhary, Lalji Chaudhary, Krishna Chaudhary, Arjun Chaudhary etc. were burnt to ashes.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, Nawalpur Police Station Head Devendra Kumar, ASI Rohit Singh along with his team and 112 team reached the spot and helped a lot in extinguishing the fire. Started trying to extinguish the fire with the help of villagers.
Four fire tenders also reached the spot and after much effort the fire was brought under control. By then 17 houses had been burnt to ashes. Property worth lakhs including clothes, utensils, money, jewellery, grains etc. kept in the house has been destroyed.
