
Katihar, 03 October (NEWS IN BIHAR). Under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Employment Scheme in the district, 54,500 women were provided financial assistance of Rs 10,000 under the first installment. In a program organized by Jeevika Katihar at the DRCC Conference Hall, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar sent funds to the account of 25 lakh women beneficiaries of Bihar.
District Magistrate Manesh Kumar Meena, MLA Katihar Sadar Tarakeshwar Prasad, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. More than 544 Jeevika Didis also attended the event.
The objective of the Chief Minister Mahila Employment Scheme is to provide women an opportunity for self -employment and make them self -sufficient. Under this scheme, a woman from every family of the state is being given financial assistance of Rs 10,000 under the first installment to start employment of her choice.
After 6 months, a provision has been made to provide financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh in view of their employment status. Applications of women were prepared by the Women’s Gram Sangathan constituted at the village level by Jeevika and all applications were collected and entry was ensured by the Block Office of Jeevika.
