District Election Officer Anshul Kumar and Superintendent of Police Sweety Sehrawat jointly told a press conference that one candidate in Purnia district has withdrawn his name, after which now a total of 69 candidates are in the fray in seven assembly constituencies. One candidate has taken his name.
The District Election Officer said that this time separate observers (observers) have been appointed for all the assembly constituencies. Besides, arrangements have been made for 100 percent web casting so that the election process remains completely transparent. He said that arrangements for election party dispatch have been made from Purnia College and District School Purnia.
This time new arrangements have been made for counting of votes also. Counting of votes of Banmankhi, Dhamdaha, Purnia and Rupauli assembly constituencies will be done at Purnia College, Purnia, while counting of votes of Amour, Bayasi and Kasba assembly constituencies will be done at District School, Purnia.
Superintendent of Police Sweety Sehrawat said that in view of the elections, action has been taken against 138 people under CCA (Crime Control Act), out of which 84 people have been transferred to the district and police station. He said that more than 300 licensed weapons have been deposited in police stations and shops.
He said that all necessary steps have been taken to ensure peaceful, fair and fear-free voting in the district.
