Officials including DM, SP in election review

Purnia, 1 November .

As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, assembly-wise general observers have been appointed in all the seven assembly constituencies under Purnia district to conduct the Bihar Assembly General Elections 2025 in a free, fair and fear-free environment.

In the same sequence, on Saturday, a review meeting of election preparations was organized in Mahananda Auditorium under the chairmanship of the Observer in the presence of District Election Officer Anshul Kumar and Superintendent of Police. Senior officers, nodal officers and electoral officers of all the cells were present in the meeting. Through PPT, the District Election Officer informed the observers about the updated status of training, material, law and order, sweep, EVM, model code of conduct, expenditure monitoring, media, social media, fire house and paramilitary force cell.

Expressing satisfaction over the preparations of the district administration, the observer said that all the preparations for the elections in Purnia district are satisfactory. He directed that strict adherence to the guidelines and model code of conduct of the Election Commission of India should be ensured. Instructions were also given to maintain lighting, water, toilets, cleanliness and facilities for disabled voters at the polling stations.

During the review of law and order, the observer gave clear instructions to the officials that legal action should be taken against those elements who spread rumors or obstruct the election process. Instructions were also given to ensure intensive investigation and videography at border areas and identified check posts.

In the review related to media and social media, the observer said that if any kind of misleading or rumor based news is published or broadcasted, it should be immediately refuted and legal action should be taken against the concerned person or institution. Apart from this, instructions were also given to take action as per rules against the candidates who do not follow the permission and guidelines of the Election Commission in political advertisements.

Reviewing the SVEEP activities, he said that effective voter awareness campaigns should be conducted to ensure maximum turnout. Apart from this, many important guidelines were also given regarding the security arrangements of Bajgriha.

The observer told the officials that maintaining transparency, cleanliness and peace in the electoral process is the top priority. No laxity will be tolerated in cases of rumours, misleading news and violation of code of conduct.
