
Katihar, 23 October . In the second phase of Bihar Assembly general elections, voting is to be held in Katihar district on 11th November.
The process of withdrawal of nominations was completed on Thursday 23 October. A total of five candidates have withdrawn their names till the last date for withdrawal of nominations. In this way, now 87 candidates are in the electoral fray in all the seven assembly constituencies of the district.
After the withdrawal of nomination process was over, District Election Officer-cum-District Magistrate Manesh Kumar Meena gave the above information in the Collectorate Auditorium on Thursday evening.
The District Election Officer said that the process of nomination and withdrawal of nominations was completed peacefully. He told that 16 candidates had filed nominations from 62 Sadar Assembly seats of the district. After scrutiny, nominations of 04 candidates were rejected and 01 withdrew their nominations. Now 11 candidates will contest elections in 63-Katihar. Similarly, from 64-Kadwa, 19 nominations 02 rejected 01 returned, remaining 16, from 65 Balrampur, 20 nominations 02 rejected, remaining 18, from 66-Pranpur, 21 nominations 07 rejected 01 returned, remaining 13, from 67-Manihari, 10 nominations 02 rejected 01 returned, remaining 07, from 68-Barari, 21 nominations. 06 rejected, 01 returned, remaining 14 and 69-08 candidates filed nomination from Kodha Assembly. And are in the electoral fray.
District Election Officer said that the number of candidates contesting the election has now reduced to 87. After withdrawal of nominations, all the returning officers have prepared a list of contesting candidates in the prescribed Form 7A while allocating symbols to the contesting candidates.
The District Magistrate said that the Bihar Assembly General Elections 2025 are being conducted in a free, fair, transparent and fear-free environment and the Model Code of Conduct is being strictly followed. By identifying vulnerable hamlets, localities and vulnerable voters in the polling station areas under the district, identifying the factors causing vulnerability and taking action as per rules. Besides, arrangements for basic facilities like ramp, pure drinking water, toilets, electricity etc. have been ensured at all the polling stations.
