Patna Sahib assembly seat is traditionally considered strong for BJP, but this time the situation is different. When Shishir Kumar, who was hoping for a ticket from BJP, did not get a chance, he chose the path of rebellion. Shishir Kumar is now in the electoral fray. His local influence can make a dent in the BJP’s vote bank, as he has been active in the party organization for a long time and has a personal network in many wards.
This time the contest on Bikram assembly seat of Patna district has become more interesting. Anil Singh, who was earlier associated with BJP, is now contesting on Congress ticket. He is popular among BJP supporters at the local level due to his long stay in BJP and working for the organization. After getting the ticket from Congress, he has started campaigning with full force. The BJP camp fears that Anil Singh’s influence may pull away the traditional BJP votes. BJP has fielded sitting MLA Siddharth Sourav from here, who had won the elections last time on Congress ticket.
Former BJP leader from Digha Assembly Ritesh Ranjan alias Bittu Singh is also in rebellious mood. He was active in the BJP organization till October, but after the ticket was cut, he filed nomination from Jansuraj Party. Bittu Singh is considered an active and popular face among the local level voters. Bittu Singh is a businessman and if he joins Jansuraj, BJP may lose the votes of the business class. BJP has fielded current MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia from here. Such Bittu Singh’s hold can become a cause of concern for the BJP candidate.
Senior journalist Arun Pandey told in the conversation that there is no problem in BJP’s victory in four assembly seats of Patna city, Patna Sahib, Digha, Kumhrar and Bankipur seats. This is a traditional seat of BJP. At the last moment all the troubles will go away and people will vote for BJP only.
He said that apart from this, National Democratic Alliance (NDA) also has no problem in Bikram, Danapur and Mokama. Barh assembly seat is a big challenge for the NDA alliance. It may be difficult for them to find a seat from here.
Karmaveer Singh alias Lallu Mukhiya, who is the RJD candidate, has more chances of winning from Barh assembly seat. Contesting as an independent candidate in the 2020 assembly elections, Lallu Mukhiya had obtained around 40 thousand votes.
