Araria 14 October (NEWS IN BIHAR). Araria district has six assembly constituencies, which include Araria, Raniganj (SC), Jokihat, Sikti, Narpatganj and Forbesganj assembly constituencies.

Among these six assembly constituencies, Forbesganj has been in the BJP’s account since 1990, except for the 2000 assembly elections. Zakir Hussain from Bahujan Samaj Party had won the 2000 assembly elections. The party has once again expressed confidence in BJP’s Vidyasagar Keshari, who won the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections.

Vidyasagar Keshari alias Manchan Keshari has been made the candidate from BJP for the third time. That is, if you register victory in the upcoming assembly elections, you will become the one who registers a hat-trick victory. However, the Grand Alliance has not yet announced who will be the candidate for the Forbesganj assembly elections. But after the candidature of outgoing MLA Vidyasagar Keshari alias Manchan Keshari has been decided, there is joy among his supporters.

Forbesganj MLA Vidyasagar Keshari had secured 85,239 votes in the 2015 assembly elections on BJP ticket. While his nearest rival, RJD’s Kritianand Biswas, had secured 60,291 votes. Whereas in the 2020 assembly elections, Vidyasagar Keshari had secured a total of one lakh 2 thousand 212 votes, securing 49.53 percent votes. His nearest rival was Congress’s Zakir Hussain Khan 39.98 percent votes i.e. 82 thousand 510 votes were received. This time also BJP has expressed confidence in Vidyasagar Keshari alias Manchan Keshari and made him its candidate.

It is noteworthy that Forbesganj assembly constituency had been a stronghold of Congress before the 1990 elections. Bokai Mandal in 1952, Sheetal Prasad Gupta in 1957 and Saryu Mishra won elections seven consecutive times from 1962 to 1985 on Indian National Congress tickets. However, in 1962 he won the election from Praja Socialist Party. In 1990, BJP’s Mayanand Thakur broke into Forbesganj assembly, which is a Congress stronghold. He won again in 1995 also. But in the 2000 elections, jailed Zakir Hussain Khan won the elections on the ticket of Bahujan Samaj Party. BJP’s Lakshmi Narayan Mehta was elected in the 2005 elections and then Lakshmi Narayan Mehta was elected again in the by-elections held this year. Padma Parag Rai Venu won the elections in 2010 on Bharatiya Janata Party ticket. But after that Vidyasagar Keshari won the elections in 2015 and 2020.

On behalf of the BJP high command, once again expressing confidence in the current MLA of Forbesganj assembly constituency, the party has made him its candidate. In such a situation, if he is successful in winning the elections for the third time, he will be the second MLA after Saryu Mishra to register a hat-trick victory from Forbesganj Assembly.
