Araria 25 October . Chhath, the great festival of folk faith, starts with Nahay Khay. In the four-day ritual, on the first day, as part of physical and mental purification, Satvik food is served once as Prasad by Chhathvrati, in which there is a tradition of eating Arwa food and bottle gourd vegetable is eaten in Nahay Khay.

Due to the special demand for bottle gourd on the day of Nahay Khay, bottle gourd was sold in the market at the rate of Rs 80 to 125 per piece. There was a lot of activity in the market since morning to buy bottle gourd. The bottle gourd, which is sold per piece, was also seen being cut and sold in kilos at many places. Despite the increased prices, Chhathavratis purchased bottle gourd.

Reshma Devi, who was selling bottle gourd along with other vegetables in the fancy market, said that bottle gourd was purchased at a high price from the market itself. Due to which it is being sold with a little profit. On other days the same gourd is sold for Rs 30 to 50. Buyer Ramesh Ram said that Chhath is a great festival of folk faith and today is the beginning of this festival with Nahay Khay.

Under the Satvik food, the devotees prepare themselves for Chhath by eating rice rice, gram pulses and bottle gourd along with vegetables, bathing etc., taking bath and purifying themselves physically and mentally. In such a situation, one has to buy whatever the price. The food in the form of Prasad is prepared in rock salt in a completely Satvik manner.
