
East Champaran, October 16 (NEWS IN BIHAR). A one-day “Breast Cancer Awareness Programme” was organized by the Department of Zoology of Mahatma Gandhi Central University.
Vice Chancellor Prof. addressing the program. Sanjay Srivastava said that “Women’s health is not only a matter of medicine, but also a matter of social responsibility. Every person should play an active role in spreading health awareness in his family and society. He congratulated the Department of Zoology for successfully organizing such a useful and socially relevant program and stressed the need to take such activities to the society at large. Dr. Geeta Kadyapratha, the keynote speaker of the program, The renowned breast cancer surgeon from Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi, said that the biggest safety against breast cancer is awareness.
He gave detailed information on the risk factors, symptoms and early detection measures of breast cancer and described a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet as the best prevention. The featured speaker, Dr. Nibha Sinha, health communication expert from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida, said that women should be conscious of their health and family members should also be aware of these early warning signs. He stressed the need to spread health awareness in the society through media and social media. Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Head of the Department of Zoology, Prof. Pranaveer Singh gave the welcome speech.
He highlighted the relevance of spreading awareness on a sensitive topic like breast cancer and talked about inculcating a sense of social responsibility among the students through this program. Pro. Anand Prakash (Department of Biotechnology) stressed the seriousness of breast cancer and the need for timely detection. Head of Department Prof. Arthatran Pal said that breast cancer is a global challenge and it can be prevented only through discipline, healthy habits and awareness.
