Patna, 25 October . Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has extended hearty congratulations and best wishes to the state and countrymen on the occasion of Chhath, the four-day festival of folk faith.

The Chief Minister said in his message that this great festival of public faith is a symbol of self-discipline, purity and reverence. People offer Arghya to the setting and rising Lord Surya with a pure conscience and pure mind.

He said that through Chhath festival, the message of cleanliness, discipline and collective harmony is spread in the society.

On the occasion of Mahaparva Chhath, the Chief Minister has prayed to Lord Bhaskar for the progress, happiness, peace and prosperity of the state.

Chhath, the four-day festival of folk faith, started today with Nahay-Khay. Devotees across the state took bath and worshiped Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya. The fasting people at home started the festival with purity and traditional rituals.

As part of Chhath rituals, Kharna will be held on 26th October, evening Arghya on 27th October and this great festival will conclude with offering Arghya to the rising Lord Bhaskar on 28th October.
