East Champaran, 23 October . Shri Chitragupta Puja Mahotsav was organized with great pomp on Thursday at Drishti Gurukul Public School located in Sugauli Nagar of the district, in which people from Sugauli Nagar and Block area including Kayastha families and other sections of the society participated and took blessings of Shri Chitragupt Ji Maharaj.

Cultural programs were also organized during the puja. It was inaugurated by Baba Manish Das, the abbot of Radha Krishna Thakurbari Math, who arrived as the chief guest, Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, director of Sudhir Seva Sadan, Ashok Kumar Gupta, president of Vyayasi Manch and Priyanshu Saraf, jointly lighting the lamp. After the cultural program, Preeti Bhoj was also organized.

It was told on the occasion that Lord Chitragupta, who created the Kayastha caste, was born on the day of Yama Dwitiya. Chitragupta is worshiped on the Dwitiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. Lord Chitragupta is the worshipable deity of Kayasthas. Lord Chitragupta is considered to be the god of pen. Worshiping Chitragupta gives courage, strength and bravery. On the day of Kayastha Puja, pen and ledger are worshiped along with Lord Chitragupta. Because both of these are dear to Lord Chitragupta. Along with this, he writes complete information about the details of his income and expenditure. Also, at the time of worship, Lord Shri Chitragupta writes his wish on a plain paper. Offer at the feet of Ji Maharaj.
