Bhagalpur, 1 November . A review meeting of Citizen Campaign and National Democratic Campaign was held in Sujaganj, Bhagalpur on Saturday. Ramsharan presided over the meeting. Independent Gandhians, socialists and activists associated with the JP movement from across the country are continuously working in Bihar elections. This is the group which was once active against Congress’s Indira Gandhi’s Emergency and had gone to jail. Under this campaign, a group of activists stayed in Bhagalpur from 30 October to 1 November.
Prominent comrades Pankaj (Bettiah), Karu (Gaya), Sushil (Ara) and Manthan (Tata), active in the JP movement and associated with the Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Vahini, visited the villages and mohallas of Kahalgaon, Gopalpur, Bihpur and Bhagalpur Assembly constituencies of Bhagalpur district under the banner of National Democratic Campaign. Comrade Uday of Bhagalpur told that in this series, meetings and contacts were held with the friends in Machhua Basti Kaggi Tola of Kahalgaon, Makkhatakiya of Navgachia and Jhandapur of Bihpur. It is noteworthy that about 30 organizations like Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Vahini Coordination Committee, Rashtriya Loktantrik Nirman Abhiyan, Sarvodaya Mandal, Gandhi Memorial Fund, Rashtra Seva Dal, Hum Bharat Ke Log, Bharat Jodo Abhiyan etc. have decided to defeat the present NDA alliance and make the Grand Alliance win in Bihar elections to strengthen the democratic process and protect the values ??of the freedom movement.
Addressing the community meeting, senior social activist JP Pankaj ji said that we had taken a pledge that we will not keep any surname indicating caste, will not wear sacred thread, will not wear any kind of religious symbol like tikka-tikki and will not contest elections. But will fight on public issues and organize them. Even today we are walking on the same path. Sushil Kumar said that we have gone to jail during Emergency while fighting against Congress. Therefore, our concern is more about saving democracy.
