Katihar, 28 October . Chhath fast ended on Tuesday with offering Arghya to the rising sun. In the first rays of the morning, the devotees stood on the ghats of rivers and ponds and offered Arghya to the Sun God. After 36 hours of waterless fast, the devotees broke the fast by consuming Prasad.
To maintain the sanctity of Chhath Puja, the district administration and local youth conducted a comprehensive cleaning campaign of the ghat and the surrounding roads. Attractive arrangements of lights were made on the ghats and special arrangements of cow’s milk and Ganga water were made for Arghya.
The district administration deployed police forces and SDRF teams, giving priority to security at the deep ghats including Manihari, Kadhagola, Kosi, Mahananda Ghats. Uninterrupted power supply was ensured and District Magistrate Manesh Kumar Meena and Superintendent of Police themselves visited the ghats and took stock of the situation.
