District administration alert regarding compliance in cyber space

Samastipur 18 October (NEWS IN BIHAR).

To ensure clean, fair and peaceful elections on the occasion of Bihar Assembly General Election 2025, Model Code of Conduct is in force in Samastipur district like the entire state.

Keeping in mind the increasing role of social media and online platforms on election related activities in the changing digital era, the district administration is cautious about following the code of conduct in cyber space.

As per the instructions of District Election Officer-cum-DM Roshan Kushwaha, Media, Social Media and MCMC Cell has been established in the District Public Relations Office, Samastipur under the leadership of DPRO Rajneesh Kumar Rai.

A special team of deputed teachers and executive assistants has been constituted in this cell, which is daily monitoring the news, posts and videos being circulated on all print, electronic and social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), WhatsApp, YouTube, Snapchat etc. Nodal officer Rajneesh Kumar Rai said that under the leadership of office head Sanjay Kumar, teacher Subhit Kumar Singh and executive assistant Rohit Kumar, “Our team is constantly ensuring that no misleading, objectionable or paid news is published on any media platform. No voter can be given any kind of inducement (financial or otherwise) directly or indirectly in the election process.

Also, any kind of content should not create differences or tension in the society on the basis of caste, religion, language or community.” He said that the district administration has clarified that immediate action will be taken under election rules against any person or organization violating the model code of conduct in cyber space.

Through this initiative, the Samastipur administration aims to provide unbiased and factual information to the voters by curbing the spread of fake news, misleading information and communal appeals on digital mediums. Earlier, in the meeting held with all the political parties and candidates, District Election Officer Roshan Kushwaha has appealed to all the political parties, candidates and voters that “Elections are a festival of democracy. Everyone’s participation is necessary in keeping it clean and dignified. Use social media for positive information, avoid any misleading or provocative posts.” This initiative of Samastipur district administration is a commendable step towards transparent and ethical conduct of elections in the digital age.
