The grand inauguration of the divisional level school sports competition 2025-26 took place on Wednesday in the playground of District School, Purnia.

The program was inaugurated by District Magistrate Anshul Kumar (I.P.S.) by lighting the lamp. On this occasion, Deputy Development Commissioner Anjani Kumar, Additional Collector Law and Order, District Sports Officer Ravi Shankar Jha, District Education Officer Arvind Prakash and various officials and journalists were present.

About 350 student-athletes from all four districts of the division participated in this competition. The children enthralled everyone by presenting an attractive march past, while the band party of Bharat Scouts and Guides created an atmosphere of enthusiasm with energetic tunes.

Students of Rambagh High School presented the message of responsibility towards democracy by presenting songs, verses and drama as part of voter awareness campaign. The students of Kasturba Gandhi Girls School won the applause of the audience by performing a beautiful welcome dance.

Games like Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Football, Badminton, Taekwondo, Weightlifting and Chess were organized on the first day of the competition. The Deputy Development Commissioner advised the children to adopt sports as a career with discipline and dedication, while the District Magistrate said that “the players of Purnia will bring glory to the district with their hard work and talent.”

This four-day competition will run till October 18, the winners of which will take part in the state level competition.
