Founder of Braj Kishore Astrology Institute, Saharsa and famous astrologer Pandit Tarun Jha ji has told that according to Mithila University Panchang, the festival of Diwali will be celebrated on Monday, 20 October this year. He told that since Amavasya will start from the afternoon on this day, Diwali will be celebrated on Monday only due to Pradosh Vyapani and Nishith Vyapani Amavasya. Also, during Pradosh period, worship of Mother Kali, Lord Ganesha, Mother Lakshmi and Kuber Maharaj will also be done on this day.

Many mythological reasons have been given regarding the festival of Diwali. On this day, Lord Shri Ram returned to Ayodhya after conquering Lanka, then everyone welcomed Lord Shri Ram by lighting lamps, since then this festival also came to be known as Prakash Parv. This time the festival of Govardhan Puja will be celebrated on Wednesday 22nd October, Bhai Dooj and the worship of Lord Chitragupta ji will be celebrated on Thursday 23rd October.
