Araria Photo: Officers and police station chief reached the spot

Araria, 27 October . In Shankarpur Rishidev Tola Ward No. 3 of Bhargama police station area of ??the district, an eleven-year-old girl, who had gone to Lachha river to wash her hands after making Chhath Ghat on Monday afternoon, died due to drowning in water.

The deceased girl has been identified as Preeti Kumari, daughter of Shalo Rishidev, resident of Rishidev Tola, Shankarpur Ward No. 3.

Giving information about the matter, Shankarpur Deputy Chief Sandeep Yadav said that Chhath Ghat was built by the people of the village on the Lacha River flowing at a distance of about one kilometer from the house. After the construction of Chhath Ghat, the girl Preeti, after washing the Ghat with cow dung, went to the bank of the river to wash her hands. Due to which she lost control and fell into the river.

When the local youth who were building the ghat saw this, they quickly entered the water and started searching for the girl. After about an hour the girl was taken out from under the hyacinth. By then the girl had died. After which the administration and the police station were informed about this.

Here, as soon as information about the incident was received, mourning spread among the family members. On receiving information about the incident, Circle Officer Niranjan Kumar Mishra, Block Development Officer Shashi Bhushan Suman and Police Station Head Rajesh Kumar reached the spot, took the body in their custody and sent it to Araria Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

The incident has left the family in mourning. Present on the spot, Chief Umesh Yadav, Deputy Chief Sandeep Yadav, social worker Shyamal Kishore Singh, Nirshu Rishidev, Panchayat Committee member Vinod Mandal, Sahdev Rishidev, Ashok Paswan, ward member Gauri Devi have demanded compensation from the disaster department.
