Patna, 29 October . Monitoring of political activities on social media has intensified regarding the assembly elections in Bihar. The Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) has taken strict action amid the election campaign. EOU has filed a case against three big political parties. This includes BJP, Congress and RJD.

EOU has taken this action on the charges of sharing posts allegedly spreading inflammatory, religious and caste hatred from the social media accounts of the three parties.

EOU DIG Manavjeet Singh Dhillon told the press on Wednesday that many such contents were found on the social media platforms of the three parties which violate the election code of conduct and were shared with the intention of spreading religious and caste tension in the society. Dhillon said that the cyber monitoring team of EOI did a technical analysis of these posts and after getting the evidence, an FIR has been registered against the three parties.

DIG said that a special election cell has been formed to monitor social media. This cell is working 24 hours in three shifts, so that any kind of rumor or inflammatory material can be immediately tracked during the elections. He said that our teams are continuously monitoring, immediate action will be taken against any party, candidate or person who tries to spread hatred on the digital platform.

Accused of spreading religious and caste hatred

According to the EOU report, some of the posts contained inflammatory comments based on religion, caste and community, which were likely to disturb social harmony. During investigation, it was found that these posts were shared from the official social media handles of the party and the accounts of some certified workers. On these grounds, a case has been registered under sections of the Election Code of Conduct and IT Act.
