Gopalganj, 30 September (NEWS IN BIHAR). The district administration has issued an order to completely shut down internet services in Hathua subdivision area from September 30 to October 2. The Home Department has taken this decision on the basis of the joint report of DM and SP.
The administration says that this step has been taken as a precautionary measure, so that any kind of rumour, misleading message or objectionable material cannot be spread through social media. According to officials, in recent times, there was a fear that some anti-social elements would misuse social networking sites to spread rumors and disturb communal harmony. Keeping this in mind, a decision has been taken to keep the internet closed for three days. During this period, all social networking platforms including Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, X (Twitter) will be completely affected.
The district administration has appealed to the public not to pay attention to any kind of rumors during this period and maintain peace. Officials are constantly monitoring the situation and necessary security arrangements have also been made. The administration has made it clear that this ban will be only on social networking sites and internet services, while alternative arrangements have been ensured for essential services like banking, hospital, railway ticketing etc.
Officials say that internet service will be restored as soon as the law and order situation becomes normal. DM Pavan Kumar Singha said that the general public is expected to stay away from rumors and cooperate with the administration. Meanwhile, SP Awadhesh Dixit said that strict action will be taken against those spreading rumours.
