East Champaran, 17 October (NEWS IN BIHAR). Raxaul K.C.T.C. A one-day special lecture series was organized by the English Department of the college on Friday on the occasion of “International Poverty Alleviation Day and Sustainable Development Goals”. The program was inaugurated by the Principal of the college, Dr. Vinod Baitha by lighting the lamp.

In his presidential address, he said that poverty is not just economic deficiency but the result of inequality of opportunities. In his research-based lecture, he explained that joint efforts of education, entrepreneurship and social justice are necessary to achieve sustainable development goals. Referring to the reports of the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme, he said that education and women empowerment can increase the pace of poverty alleviation manifold.

Dr. Jichu Paswan said that social equality, education and effective implementation of government schemes are necessary to remove poverty from the Dalit society. While throwing light on mental poverty, Dr. Sant Sah said that when a person loses self-confidence, that is the real poverty. Professor Prem Prakash, NSS officer, said that today poverty is not just a social problem but has become the main topic of political discussion.
