Patna, 1 October (NEWS IN BIHAR). The holy festival of Sharadiya Navratri is being celebrated today as Mahanavami on its ninth day. On this occasion, Goddess Siddhidatri was duly worshiped. A crowd of devotees gathered in temples and puja pandals in all districts of Bihar including Patna today. Devotees organized Kanya Pujan and a grand havan.

Devotees gathered in large numbers in temples and pandals since morning in the capital Patna. Devotees were thronged since morning in the major puja pandals of Durga Temple, Bankipur, Kankarbagh, Rajendra Nagar and Kadamkuan.

On the day of Mahanavami, the special significance of worship of Maa Siddhidatri has been told. Religious belief is that they provide eight types of siddhis to their devotees. Today, special rituals were performed in Devi temples in various districts including Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, Saran, Ara and Buxar. The recitation of Durga Saptashati and Havan were organized from place to place.

A special event of Kanya Pujan was held on Mahanavami. In various areas of the capital Patna, people worshiped girls as the form of Goddess, gave them food and gave gifts. Many social organizations distributed girls’ banquet and prasad in Kankarbagh and Rajendra Nagar areas. Similarly, Gaya, Darbhanga, Chhapra and Bhagalpur were also held, where thousands of devotees received offerings.

Navratri was concluded by reciting Havan and Durga Saptashati on Mahanavami. The echoing hymns and Aarti kept the atmosphere devotional everywhere.
