

Patna/Ara, 15 October (NEWS IN BIHAR). Famous litterateur Manoj Bhavuk’s research book ‘Bhojpuri Cinema Ke Sansar’ was launched on Wednesday in the Bhojpuri department of Arrah’s Veer Kunwar Singh University. This book was launched by former heads of the department, Professor Ravindra Nath Rai, Prof. Ayodhya Prasad Upadhyay, Prof. Dr. Neeraj Singh, current Head of the Department, Prof. Jointly done by Diwakar Pandey and senior literary critic Jitendra Kumar.
Introducing the subject and welcoming the incoming guests, Prof. Diwakar Pandey said that this book is an unprecedented book on the history of Bhojpuri cinema and it will serve as a base text for students doing research on cinema.
On the spot Prof. Ravindra Nath Roy said that this book is the result of Manoj Bhavuk’s tireless research and practice. Pro. Dr. Neeraj Singh said that Manoj Bhavuk’s personality is a mixture of love, inspiration, talent and hard work. This book reminds us of the glorious past of Bhojpuri film.
Jitendra Kumar said that it is a matter of happiness that on October 12, All India Bhojpuri Sahitya Sammelan has announced to give ‘Chaudhary Kanhaiya Prasad Singh Samman’ on this book in the 28th session of the conference on November 29. He said that Manoj is a passionate multidimensional litterateur and students should take inspiration from him and contribute to Bhojpuri literature.
While giving a written statement, Manoj Bhavuk said that it is a matter of pride that efforts are going on to include the tradition of Chhath festival in UNESCO. He said that Bhojpuri is a global language. Encouraging the students to write in Bhojpuri, he said that the youth will have to be creative in the rich tradition of Bhojpuri. On this occasion, he enthralled the auditorium by reciting self-composed ghazals and songs.
What’s in the book? The book ‘Bhojpuri Cinema Ke Sansar’ (First Edition: 2024) is a bird’s eye view of the journey of Bhojpuri cinema from the year 1931 till now. In the year 1962, the first Bhojpuri film came – ‘Ganga Maiya Tohe Piyari Chadhaibo’. Before that, there are also interesting stories of how Bhojpuri continued to hoist its flag through dialogues and songs in Hindi cinema from 1931 to 1962. The book includes interviews with cine-celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Sujit Kumar, Rakesh Pandey, Kunal Singh, Ravi Kishan and Manoj Tiwari.
Who is Manoj Bhavuk? Manoj Bhavuk is the only strong link between Bhojpuri cinema and Bhojpuri literature. He lives both, works in both. That’s why we understand both very well.
