East Champaran, 25 October . Before the Bihar Assembly elections, the district police has taken major action under the leadership of SP Swarn Prabhat.

Following secret information, the police raided the luxurious house of arms smuggler Upendra Singh in Jitwarpur village of Govindganj police station area and recovered a huge quantity of weapons, bullets, cash and liquor bottles.

Actually, SP Swarn Prabhat had received secret information that a large consignment of weapons had been brought to the district to be used during the elections. Based on this information, a special team of more than two hundred police forces under the joint leadership of Cyber ??DSP, Areraj DSP and Chakia DSP raided the house of Upendra Singh in Jitwarpur for four hours.

During the raid, the police recovered one carbine, one rifle, three pistols, one country-made pistol and more than a hundred bullets. Apart from this, cash worth more than Rs 2 lakh and several liquor bottles were also recovered.

Police immediately arrested arms smuggler Upendra Singh and his wife and are interrogating them. SP said that during interrogation, Upendra told that he used to work as a painter in Kashmir for the last 20 years and had returned home only a week ago. He was going to supply this consignment of weapons to someone.

At present, the police is busy identifying and arresting other people associated with this gang.
