East Champaran, 14 October (NEWS IN BIHAR). The crushing season 2025-26 was inaugurated with boiler worship and fire lighting at HPCL Biofuels Limited, Unit-Sugauli Sugar Mill on Tuesday. Before this, traditional Doga puja was also performed along with Vedic mantras, after which the lit fire was put into the boiler.

It is noteworthy that due to heavy rainfall in the first week of this month, sugarcane crushing work has now been postponed till the first week of November. The sugarcane fields are filled with water and it does not seem possible to take out the sugarcane from the fields in this month. Therefore, sugarcane crushing work will be started from November.

Acting General Manager Ramesh Shukla said that the target has been set to crush 40 lakh quintals of sugarcane in this crushing season from November 2025 to March 2026. In the reserved area of ??Sugauli unit, more than 90 percent of the area has been cultivated with early sugarcane, which was ready to be crushed from the end of October, but due to heavy rains on October 4, there has been flood in the low lying areas. Also, rain water has accumulated in almost all the fields. In such a situation, crushing work will be started from the first week of November. To protect the interests of sugarcane producing farmers, the tradition of providing correct weight and timely price will continue this year also.

The General Manager said that adverse weather conditions are a matter of concern for everyone, yet the loss to the sugarcane crop is less as compared to paddy and maize. Therefore, he appealed to the farmers to increase the area of ??sugarcane crop.

On this occasion, the entire engineering department team including IT Manager Rajesh Kumar Rao, Sugarcane Manager Ajay Kumar Tiwari, Sanjeev Kumar, Engineer Hariom Dwivedi, Sajid Akhtar, Chandrashekhar Kumar, Ranjit Dubey, Vivek Kumar were present.

Cozen Head Prashant Kesari performed the puja as the chief priest. There was great enthusiasm on this occasion among the employees and officers who were busy day and night preparing for the upcoming season.
