Bhagalpur, 26 November . On the occasion of Constitution Day, on Wednesday, Central Trade Unions and Samyukt Kisan Morcha held a counter protest near Patel’s statue at the local court square against the implementation of the Labor Code Act. On this occasion, hundreds of workers and farmers raised angry slogans against the Modi government and after holding a meeting, a joint delegation of workers and farmers organizations submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister of the country through the Bhagalpur District Magistrate.

The memorandum submitted included 18 point demands like repeal of pro-corporate-anti-labor four labor codes law and Manpower Policy 2025, legal guarantee of MSP, implementation of crop insurance scheme, ban on forced land acquisition, withdrawal of Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025, stop selling of public sector undertakings-services, stop privatization, contracting, outsourcing etc. The protest demonstration was jointly led by AICCTU State Joint District Secretary Mukesh Mukt, AITUC District General Secretary Dr. Sudhir Sharma, CITU District Secretary Dashrath Prasad, SEWA District President Ujra Bano, AIKM District President Mahesh Prasad Yadav, AIKS District Secretary Upendra Yadav, BRKS District Convener Bhola Yadav.

Addressing the counter protest, the speakers described the Modi regime as a serious threat to the Constitution and democracy. The speakers termed the move to implement the Labor Code law as the most undemocratic, most regressive, anti-worker and pro-owner and said that this deadly attack on the working people will be met with the fiercest and most united resistance in history. Speakers said that this is the biggest attack of Modi government on the working people. This arbitrary and undemocratic notification disregards all democratic ethos and destroys the character of the welfare state of the country. The counter protest demonstration was also organized by AICCTU’s Vishnu Kumar Mandal, CITU’s Shubhojit Sen Gupta, AITUC’s Manohar Sharma, Seva’s Mausam Devi, AIKM’s Randhir Yadav, AIKS’s Arun Kumar Mandal, BRKS Abhimanyu Mandal, youth leaders Sanjeet Suman and Gaurishankar Rai, Khet Mazdoor Sabha’s Pramod Yadav, Bunkar Sangharsh Samiti’s Mohd. Nejahat Ansari, Arvind Rama of AIBEA and Manoranjan Singh of Insurance Employees Association also addressed.

In the program Santhalji Mandal, Amar Kumar, Dinesh Kapri, Lutan Tanti, Karan Kumar, Mohd. Rustam, Mohd. Hundreds of laborers and farmers including Jasim participated.
